Sadies / Constantines

This workshop pairing was a no-brainer given this year’s Unintended/Constantines split LP of Gordon Lightfoot and Neil Young covers. Much to the appreciative crowd’s delight and with the Sadies in tow, the Cons drew Young’s "Don’t Be Denied” and "Don’t Cry No Tears” from that record. With two Unintended members absent, the Sadies sang other songs. Dallas Good dedicated a mighty version of Pink Floyd’s "Astronomy Domine” to the memories of Syd Barrett and Voivod’s Piggy. Such moments contained stunning displays of musicianship and rich, bold sounds. True to form, two of Canada’s best live bands played together with remarkable force.
