Royal Canoe Outline 'Extended Play,' Canadian Tour

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Jan 19, 2012

Royal Canoe last let their indie pop anthems soar on 2010's Co-Op Mode LP, but the Winnipeg-based band are ready to unveil at least a few more numbers on their upcoming outing, Extended Play. The self-released EP will arrive February 21.

As hinted by its name, the mini-record will deliver four new tracks that emphasize how the crew spend their time "in a shit-hole rehearsal space writing hooks, singing through effects pedals, scrawling lyrics on scraps of paper, and constructing heavy beats in odd time signatures." You can check out Royal Canoe's multi-vocal approach and chopped-up rock rhythms down below via a stream of opening cut "Hold On to the Metal."

Following the EP's release, Royal Canoe will be heading out towards the West Coast for a handful of Canadian dates before heading over the border for South by Southwest. Following the U.S. showcase, the band will make their way back up north for Canadian Music Week in Toronto. Check out the schedule below.
