Roots Manuva Reworked by Wrongtom for New LP

While there's still no word on a fifth studio record from British dub/hip-hop mainstay Roots Manuva, his label, Big Dada Records, has announced that it will release an LP of his songs reworked by UK DJ/producer Wrongtom later this year.

As FACT points out, the record comes on the heels of Wrongtom's dub version of Manuva's 2008 single "Buff Nuff," which impressed the Big Dada staff enough that they commissioned him to record an entire bonus disc of reworks to accompany Manuva 2008 full-length Slime and Reason.

The forthcoming album of reworks is a full-length, expanded version of that bonus disc, and is titled Duppy Writer. It will feature dub versions of songs from all of Manuva's LPs so far, and will be graced by comic-style artwork (see above) from Tony McDermott. Duppy Writer will drop September 6 in the UK and September 14 in North America.

A brand new collaboration between Roots Manuva and Ricky Ranking, "Jah Warriors," will be released as the first single. Duppy Writer's tracklist is below.

Duppy Writer:

1. "Butterfly Crab Walk"
2. "Chin Up"
3. "Duppy Writer (Skit)"
4. "Worl' A Mine"
5. "Big Tings Redone"
6. "Jah Warriors"
7. "Proper Tings Juggled"
8. "Dutty Rut"
9. "Dub Decay"
10. "Lick Up Ya Foot"
11. "Rebuff"
12. "Son of Bodda"
13. "Motion 82"
