Nothing has democratized the world of investing quite like the crowdfunding movement, but that doesn't mean everything gets made. When it comes to Rock Band 4, for example, the people have spoken, and they don't seem to give a shit.
As Billboard reports, developer Harmonix recently launched a crowdfunding campaign to try and raise $1.5 million USD to make the game playable on PC.
The bidding closed yesterday (April 5), and it just barely passed the halfway point toward its goal.
In total, $792,817 was raised for the project. Worse yet, the majority of the money came from investors, who donated $592,000 of the total for the game. A measly $201,000 came from actual gamers who were hoping to get in on some Rock Band incentives.
Perhaps the failure is symptomatic of the fact the Rock Band series is more suited to casual consolers, rather than the hardcore gamers with fancy PCs. Or maybe it's just a sign that the play-along music game is finally waning in popularity.
Either way, Harmonix is expected to make a statement about the failed campaign later today.
