Painfully punny Austin, TX fuzz-pop unit Ringo Deathstarr recently announced their sophomore album, Mauve, would be delivered September 25 via Sonic Unyon. At the time, the band also promised a video for first single "Rip" would drop sometime in the future. A month later, the band have come through on that promise and have also gone and announced a North American tour.
The video shows us the apparent dangers of 3D glasses. The trio start their day off with some sugary Saturday morning snacks, but as soon as they don those glasses, they see the world in a neon haze of TV snow, which apparently drives them bonkers. You can peep them terrorizing local merchants and backyards down below. As for the song itself, it juxtaposes doomy guitar distortion with singer Alex Gehring's soft and breathy coo.
The tour, meanwhile, kicks off just before Mauve hits retailers, and will find the trio tackling North American stages for about a month. Three Ontario-area stops are scheduled for Windsor, Toronto and Hamilton, with similarly shoegazey Haligonian labelmates Kestrels filling that opening slot. You can check the details below.
