Queens of the Stone Age Get Matt Berry and Steve Agee for Mockumentary About New Album
Published Dec 27, 2012Queens of the Stone Age don't yet have a title or release date for their "manic and unpredictable" upcoming album, but there's already plenty of excitement about the new disc thanks to the involvement of Dave Grohl, Trent Reznor, Nick Oliveri and Jake Shears. Now fans can get a taste of what the rock band have been working on thanks to the mockumentary Secrets of the Sound.
The behind-the-scenes mini-doc stars comics Matt Berry (The IT Crowd, The Might Boosh, Garth Marenghi's Darkplace) and Steve Agee (The Sarah Silverman Program), who play the incompetent hosts of a fictional TV show. The nine-minute-plus clip won't give you much of an idea of what the album actually sounds like, but you will see lots of awkward interview clips (which appear to be loosely improvised) and goofy studio footage.
Some of the highlights of the clip include Berry repeatedly criticizing Queens of the Stone Age's extensive guitar collection, lingering shots of a small dog scratching himself on the carpet and a pretty amazing conversation with band leader Josh Homme.
These funny moments mean that, despite the clip's lack of concrete information about the upcoming album, it creates a little extra excitement for the new LP. Watch it below.
