Prosanctus Inferi

Pandemonic Ululations of Vesperic Palpitation

BY Greg PrattPublished Aug 31, 2010

This debut full-length from this Columbus, OH-based gaggle of black metal noisemakers is a tribute to fallen drummer Antichristus, and, if his nom de plume is any indication, dude's throwing the horns in his grave right now. This album stands alongside another recent Hell's Headbangers release ― the latest Profanatica ― as the best examples of raw American black metal currently horrifying anyone who enjoys anything resembling music. Songs like "Lips of Plasma Vomiting Sanctimonious Pyx" and "Priory Darkness of Choral Flesh" not only boast incredible titles, but also stand as prime examples of what could happen if Incantation took their ugly black metal leanings to an even further extreme while keeping just a touch of death. But, man, with 13 songs racing past in 25 minutes, there's barely time to analyze, just revel in the horrible beauty of this bleak black attack. Antichristus, this one's for you.
