Published Mar 31, 2014There has been no shortage of posthumous Michael Jackson releases since the artist's death in 2009. That trend continues with the arrival of another album this spring.
Called XSCAPE, the record features eight previously unreleased songs from Jackson. These recordings were updated and made new thanks to executive producer L.A. Reid, who worked alongside Timbaland, Rodney Jerkins, Stargate, Jerome "Jroc" Harmon and John McClain. A press release says the producers offered a "fresh, contemporary sound that retains Jackson's essence and integrity."
"Modern music and artistry would look and sound completely different if not for the groundbreaking contributions Michael Jackson gifted to the world," Reid said in a press release. "Michael left behind some musical performances that we take great pride in presenting through the vision of music producers that he either worked directly with or expressed strong desire to work with."
XSCAPE will be available on May 13 via Epic Records. A deluxe edition of the album will also be released that will include all of the original MJ recordings that were sourced for the songs on XSCAPE.
