Pop Montreal has unveiled a second wave of artists booked to, well, pop through town between September 25 and 29, with a few of the bigger names including production legend Tony Visconti and the Dears' Murray A. Lightburn.
Visconti, who has worked with the likes of David Bowie, Morrissey, T. Rex and Paul McCartney, will be taking part in the festival's Pop Symposium, where he will be "sharing stories and discussing music" at Société des arts technologiques.
As for Lightburn, he will premiere his electronic opera MASS:LIGHT on September 26, roughly a month after it arrives on LP on August 20.
Also new to the schedule is Montréal's d'Eon, who will support multimedia artist Cory Arcangel with keyboard music. Other recent adds to the fest include Jurassic 5's Chali 2na, Fat Tony, Patrick Watson, AroarA (Ariel Engle and BSS's Andrew Whiteman), Thus: Owls, the Barr Brothers, Alaclair Ensemble, Maica Mia, the Ensemble d'Ondes de Montréal, Radwan Ghazi Moumneh and Kristeen Young.
