Even as the hype slowly dies, Montreal continues to maintain its status as an indie rock Mecca. This is proven by the many bands that trek to the city every year when the Pop Montreal festival takes place. Running from October 1 to the 5, the seventh annual fest has confirmed its main guests, which include inimitable pop legend Burt Bacharach (for real!).
The full list of confirmed guests includes Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds, Hot Chip, the Persuasions, Dan Deacon, Cori Bishop (aka Elyse Weinberg), United Steel Workers of Montreal, the Dodos, Liam Finn, Wintersleep, Dark Meat, Headlights, Playdoe, Dabaaz, Kim, Eric Bélanger, the Veils, Wire, Crystal Castles, Black Kids, Saint Catherines, Vetiver, Silver Apples, Thomas Function, Julie Doiron, Chad Van Gaalen, Dominique Grange & Jacques Tardi, Great Lake Swimmers, Katie Moore, Socalled, Woodhands, You Say Party! We Say Die!, Sam Shalabi, Gatineau, Jason Collett, Chocolat, Irma Thomas, Wedding Present, Evangelicals, Beach House, Jana Hunter, Cex, Teeth Mountain, Teki Latex, DUrbervilles, and Michie Mee. The site also promises that there are still more artists to be announced.
Along with all of that quality music, the festival will also offer its usual film and art contingents, as well as the brand new Kids Pop, which is described as " a variety of workshops that connect artists with young folks in order to share skills, encourage artistic expression and enjoy Montreals cultural offerings. Its all here: film, music, visual art, fashion, and discussion!
