Last fall, celebrated ex-New Order bassist Peter Hook told Exclaim! that he was working on a book about his days in Joy Division. Now, the four-stringer has officially announced the impending release of the memoir.
Entitled Unknown Pleasures: Inside Joy Division, the book with arrive on October 1 via Simon & Schuster. This follows Hook's previous memoir, The Hacienda: How Not to Run a Club, which detailed the history of the iconic Manchester nightclub.
NME reports that the new Joy Division book will cover the band's formation right up to singer Ian Curtis's suicide.
Hook previously told Exclaim! that this book will clear up some of the inaccuracies that have appeared in other Joy Division books.
"The thing that really surprises me about all the Joy Division books is that they're done by people who were not anywhere near Joy Division," he said. "So I'm hoping this one will put my demons to rest in the same way that the Haçienda one put my Haçienda demons to rest. I hope this book puts my Joy Division demons to rest."
At the time, he added that he was planning to follow this up with a New Order book. There's no word as to whether this is still on the cards now that New Order have reformed without him.
