Pennywise 'Yesterdays' (album stream)
Published Jun 30, 2014Tying something old to something new is Pennywise's upcoming Yesterdays LP. As previously reported, the band's latest long-player has the Hermosa Beach hardcore vets playing a number of tracks written in their earliest days, and you can stream the results now ahead of the album's official July 15 due date through Epitaph.
The album features a number of previously unreleased tunes written by the band's late bassist Jason Thirsk, who passed away in 1996. Vocalist Jim Lindberg's return, however, magnifies the O.G. stature of the songs, making for another collection of speedy yet melodic bro hymns.
"We always wanted to go back and record these songs because later in our career we started to get more political and angry — that may have turned some people off but that's what we were feeling at the time," Lindberg said in a statement. "In the back of our minds we knew we had these cool, old songs that were more life-affirming, it just took us 25 years to get back to it."
Pennywise are on tour with the Offspring and Bad Religion this summer. You'll find the North American show info here.
