There may be only one month left in summer, but there's still plenty of time to catch some electrifying live music across our great nation. As such, we've rounded up another week of Can't Miss Concerts from August 4 to 10, including the Tragically Hip's farewell tour, the boundary-pushing country soul of Sturgill Simpson and the two-day mosh pit that is Heavy MTL. If you're still thirsting for more, be sure check out our complete Concert Listings for many more must-see concerts and events.

Jay Arner

Bashful indie rock talent Jay Arner hit a home run this year with Jay II, an excellent mixture of traditional alternative and Krautrock with lyrics as sharp and slick as its guitar hooks. It's introvert music you can dance to. Come see what all the fuss is about at one of the dates below.

08/05/2016 Ottawa, ON – Pressed
08/06/2016 Toronto, ON - Monarch Tavern

Julie Doiron

Julie Doiron is a busy woman. The Moncton singer-songwriter just released a knockout of a debut record with East Coast indie rock supergroup Weird Lines last month, and now she's embarking on a solo tour. No bother: Doiron has coloured the sound of many, but has been defined by none; she truly shines by herself.

Heavy MTL

Heavy MTL returns this year for three days of moshing, mayhem and, above all, metal in Montreal. Leading the charge are nu-metal champions Disturbed, bone-crushing pachyderms Mastodon and groove metal marauders Five Finger Death Punch. It's gonna get loud.

08/06-07/2016 Montreal, QC – Parc Jean-Drapeau

Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Festival

Music fans on the East Coast can look forward to the Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Festival this week. The summer shindig features a wide array of local talent, from the Dardanelles to Amelia Curran. Besides, you might just catch the next big folk sensation.

Skeletonwitch

If you're not around to catch them Heavy MTL, Ohio death metallers Skeletonwitch are primed to deliver two days of punishing grooves, pounding drums and throat-searing vocals in just a couple of hours as they rocket through Quebec and Ontario this week. Check them out at one of the dates below.

08/04/2016 Toronto, ON – Massey Hall

Sturgill Simpson

Sturgill Simpson repurposed country music for a new generation this year with his excellent LP, A Sailor's Guide to Earth. In particular, he went back to go forward, infusing classic soul and rock with his vintage outlaw sound to create what is one of the best country records of the year so far. Let the Kentucky singer-songwriter convince you at one of the dates below.
