With the bar's close proximity to the stage, the Gladstone Ballroom can get noisy. Thus, it took unassuming critical darlings, Timber Timbre, more than a few eerie string strums to quiet the crowd. Once Taylor Kirk's deep, dust-bowl voice kicked in, however, the bottles soon stopped clinking. Patrick Watson-evoking, kitchen-sink soundscapes, anchored by measured melodies and the aforementioned lilt created an ethereal feel, spurring transfixed stares and scattered swoons. The tightly wound "Demon Host" and the haunting "I Get Low" were particular highlights in an evening filled with them.
