The members of the Toronto ska-jazz band the Nightshift are almost all under 20 years old, and a few of them have to sneak in to play their own shows. Their first EP, though, showcases talent beyond their years. Mixing a variety of Jamaican music genres with jazz, the EP consists of well-constructed songs and some impressive solos. Reminiscent of the New York Ska-Jazz Ensemble, they dont do anything amazingly creative, but as the first release of a young band, it shows a great deal of promise and is a good listen.
