My Heart to Fear have aged parallel to fellow Christian metalcore brethren the Devil Wears Prada. Both acts spent the earlier portions of their careers with too many ideas, lacking the know-how to actually pull them together, while the keyboards only served to increase the confusion as both stumbled around the genre. With more recent releases, both acts found their sound, and thereby discovered a platform to launch careers off of. On Algorithm, My Heart to Fear tie their abundance of ideas together with the previously disorienting keyboards. Unfortunately, a lack of inspiration causes the songs to come undone, as many of the parts sound only like a means to get to the next. Sure, the tracks flow, but the energy is lost in the interim. However, this is a better problem to have than those that plagued their old material, suggesting that soon they'll be able to keep up with genre forerunners like the Color Morale or Like Moths to Flames.
