When hes not digging into the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy or "sweding" your favourite movies in his acting endeavours, Mos Def has proven that he can still rock a mic as well as he did with Black Star in the late 90s. This will be proven again with the release of The Ecstatic, his fourth solo record, on February 10. The album is the follow-up to Tru3 Magic, his ill-received 2006 album.
Now with a new home via Downtown Recordings, the record is yet to receive a proper tracklisting. We do know that Mos Def will be joined by vocal contributions from Slick Rick and his Black Star buddy Talib Kweli. Hell also be backed by production from mainstream heavyweights Kanye West and Chad Hugo from the Neptunes as well as Stones Throw heroes Madlib and the late J Dilla. The albums first single, "Life In Marvelous Times, will be hitting iTunes today (November 4).
