New Jersey stoner rock vets Monster Magnet have announced they'll drop their next batch of spliff-blazers, Last Patrol, on October 15 via Napalm Records.
The group's ninth album, which follows 2010's Mastermind, was produced by vocalist Dave Wyndorf and guitarist Phil Caviano at the latter's Studio 13, while "Evil" Joe Barresi (Tool, Queens of the Stone Age) mixed the set. Additional production duties were handled by Matt Hyde.
The nine-song effort is apparently a return to the band's roots, with Wyndorf claiming the LP showcases "full-on psychedelic space-rock with a '60s garage feel," and was recorded "almost exclusively with vintage guitars, amps and effects."
In a statement, he added: "The songs are a kind of space-noir, tales of cosmic revenge, peaking libidos, alienation and epic strangeness. It's a weird trip through the back alleys of a dark, retro-future, which not by coincidence very much resembles my own life."
You can sample first single "The Duke (of Supernature)" down below.
To celebrate the LP, Monster Magnet are gearing up for their first full North American tour in over 10 years. While the trip kicks off in the U.S. in mid-November, by the time the month-long trek wraps up in New York, they'll have passed through Vancouver and Toronto. You can see the details down below.
