Exclaim! TV caught up with BC folk artist Miss Emily Brown while she was in Toronto one spring afternoon. She delivered "Back to the Woods," the lead-off track from her Wire Wood Wind EP.
Miss Emily Brown favours an autoharp to underscore her poetic lyrics and wandering idiosyncratic melodies, evoking an eerily beautiful feeling that ranges from celestial to earthy. Last summer, she had an autoharp stolen from her car, and Wire Wood Wind was released in March to help raise funds to replace the missing instrument. Yesterday (June 25) she posted on Facebook, "Only $345 left to raise and the harp is ours!" So there's still some time to support a great cause, and get some great music while you're at it.
