Mikal Cronin Announces Merge Records Debut, Gets Ty Segall to Guest
Having signed with Merge in late 2012, Ty Segall collaborator Mikal Cronin has now announced his new LP, MCII, due out May 7 in North America and May 13 in the UK/Europe.

The album was largely recorded at San Francisco's Bauer Mansion with Eric Bauer (Ty Segall, Thee Oh Sees), although the song "Don't Let Me Go" was recorded by Cronin at home. The collection features a guest appearance from Segall, who offers up some guitar solos on "Am I Wrong" and "I'm Done Running from You."

Aside from Segall and a few other guests, Cronin played all of the instruments himself. In a statement, the songwriter described the sound as "kind of schizophrenic" and explained, "Since the first record came out, my life has changed quite a bit. I was presented with a whole new slew of problems and situations that I was trying to work through."

Scroll to the bottom of the page to stream the sprightly single "Shout It Out," which begins with sweetly jangling licks before the entrance of an explosively distorted guitar during the choruses.

Cronin's current live schedule is limited, but he's expected to announce more dates soon. See his current U.S. schedule below.
