Canada's Memory Bank is a superb, mysterious and calculated futuristic pop outfit. However, they have a laid-back and contemporary "designer" sound to them that might make them one of those twice a year listens. Since their sound, which is a mix of technological sonic bliss with almost rustic operatics, is so intentional in nature, they might be too rich for the common listener, yet it functions like a dessert treat from a foreign land. But still they deserve a place in the "essential" section of your music collection. Fans of David Sylvian might want to examine this group purely for the cerebral elements alone.
