Melvins Lite Announce Canada-Heavy North American Tour

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Apr 24, 2012

The Melvins recently announced that they would be hitting up speakers with the softer side of sludge on their upcoming Freak Puke record, a collection of reworked classics performed under the name Melvins Lite. It turns out the act will take the jazzed-up tunes across Canada this summer as well.

A month after Ipecac issues the LP on June 5, the band's mainstays -- frontman/guitarist Buzz Osborne and drummer Dale Crover, plus bassist Trevor Dunn (Mr. Bungle, Fantômas, Tomahawk) -- will head out on the road for a quick North American trek. Lucky for us Canucks, the tour spends most of its time on this side of the border, cutting across from Montreal to Vancouver. You can see the schedule down below.

"The Melvins have a long history of mixing up our lineups and I think that's what has kept us relevant for so long," Osborne explained in a statement of his band's ever-changing vision. "Consider the Freak Puke record the fifth side of the four-sided Melvins triangle."

Joining the band on all but one date are labelmates Retox, the volatile California punk quartet led by frontman Justin Pearson (the Locust, the Crimson Curse, Swing Kids).
