Megan Hamilton

'Forty Warm Streams to Lead Your Wings' (album stream)

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Sep 22, 2015

Kingston, ON-based singer-songwriter Megan Hamilton will release her third full-length album Forty Warm Streams to Lead Your Wings this week, but before it lands, Exclaim! is streaming the record in its entirety.

As alluded to in the title, the album was written and recorded to commemorate Hamilton's 40th year. From the get-go, the milestone serves as inspiration throughout each song. But with age and wisdom gained, Hamilton shows no signs of slowing down; the new material, rather, shows off a newfound pop sensibility in the singer.

It was brought out and committed to tape with the help of Ottawa-based musician and producer Jim Bryson. They laid the tracks down in studios, splitting time between Kingston and Stittsville, ON. Additional instrumental support came courtesy of Jamie Kronick, Philippe Charbonneau, Danielle Lennon and Bryson himself.

A press release reveals that the songs depict "what it's like to be married and to be a mom, but still want to play music until 2 in the morning." The juxtaposition between the late-night life of a musician and the 6 a.m. wake-up calls of domestic duty come together beautifully on Forty Warm Streams to Lead Your Wings — and you can listen to it for yourself right now.

Forty Warm Streams to Lead Your Wings is officially out on September 25, but you can scroll past Hamilton's upcoming live shows to give it an early listen.
