Musical generations are convening on Mavis Staples' latest album, One True Vine, which was produced by Wilco's Jeff Tweedy. This is the pair's second album together, following 2010's You Are Not Alone, and fans can now get a taste of it via the new tune "I Like the Things About Me."
This bluesy number, boasts an ultra-minimal arrangement, as Staples sings self-affirming lyrics over a raw bass groove. The highlight comes halfway through in the form of an awesomely explosive guitar freakout (which also returns in the final moments).
