Lykke Li has been promoting her 2014 album I Never Learn as recently as earlier this week, but now the Swedish pop star is switching things up with a cover of Drake's 2013 song "Hold On, We're Going Home."
The singer preserves the lyrics, melodies and structure of Drake' original, but she strips away the beat and transforms it into a ghostly ballad. The whole thing is doused into cavernous reverb and twinkling guitars, and even when a drummer joins in during the second half of the track, this remains a very low-key take on the tune.
In the accompanying video, we see Lykke Li and her band performing while shrouded in blue-tinted darkness. Watch it below [via Vogue].
