Published Jun 11, 2021Jim Ward — of Sparta and At the Drive-In fame — has a new solo album titled Daggers out today, and courtesy of Dine Alone Records, you can now hear the album in full.
As per a release, Ward calls his new work "his most hopeful record" to date. Written entirely during the pandemic, with Ward working on the tunes every night, the album also features contributions by Incubus bassist Ben Kenney and Thursday drummer Tucker Rule.
"My friends did this for the pure love of making music with a friend," Ward said of his collaborators. "There's no higher compliment. I don't know how I'll repay them."
Today, the musician also shares a new video for the previously released single "Foreign Currency." The clip stars comedian Vincent Marcus and was directed by Jeni Robbins, who also appears in the video.
"'Foreign Currency' dives right into the realization that the result of living without being totally honest with yourself first is going to hurt the ones you love the most," Ward explained of the track in a statement. "Sometimes it takes a lockdown, a guitar and some real honest alone time to get to the bottom of things."
Previously, Ward released "Paper Fish" and "I Got a Secret" from the record.
