After months of anticipation, Calgary music nerds can finally stop speculating, as the initial line-up for the third annual Sled Island Festival has been announced. And with names like the Breeders, Liars, HEALTH, King Khan & BBQ Show, Japandroids, Mount Eerie, Final Fantasy and more, it's hard not to be more than a little excited.
The official list is as follows: Liars, Women, Woodhands, Tricky Woo, the Breeders, Obits, Anvil, the Coathangers, HEALTH, the King Khan & BBQ Show, the Evaporators, Mount Eerie, Hot Little Rocket, the Pack A.D., Sub-linguals, Githead, Final Fantasy, the Rural Alberta Advantage, the Whitsundays, the Dead Science, Andrew W.K., Agnostic Mountain Gospel Choir, Novillero, the Bronx, Nardwuar's Video Vault, the United Steel Workers of Montreal, Slim Twig, Quintron and Miss Pussycat, O'Death, Monotonix, Jonathan Toubin, Malajube, Ladyhawk, Library Voices, Hollerado, Japandroids, the Dudes, Flash Lightnin', the Cripple Creek Fairies, Holy Fuck and Battle Snakes.
Sounds pretty good, right? Well, it gets better. The festival is promising many more artists will be announced on June 1, as well as comedy, art and film showings. A little MySpace magic shows that bands like Mika Miko, Nu Sensae and Woodpigeon have added the fest to their touring itinerary.
Passes are available for $99, or in a VIP form for $199 that guarantees entry to every event, no matter the capacity. The passes can be purchased here.
