King Khan & BBQ Show Arrested, Possibly Facing Drug Charges

You expect this kind of behaviour from Axl Rose, but not from King Khan & BBQ Show. Last night, the Montreal garage rock duo never showed up for their gig in St. Louis, leading to a flurry of reports that they were arrested and possibly charged with drug possession.

As the Riverfront Times reports, the band were scheduled to play a show with Those Darlins at the city's Off Broadway, but never showed up for their 7 p.m. soundcheck, and didn't answer phone calls throughout the entire evening.

Around 11 p.m., after Those Darlins had already finished their set, the concert promoter finally gave up hope and announced that the club would be a offering a full refund to anyone who wanted it. Rumours quickly began to circulate that King Khan & BBQ Show had been arrested on drug charges.

As of this morning, the band's whereabouts have still not been confirmed, but The Pitch reports that their booking agent confirmed that they spent the night in jail in Hopkinsville, KY. The band are apparently out on bail, but the tour manager is still behind bars. The status of the tour is unknown, although tonight's show in Lawrence, KS is cancelled.

Despite the no show, the St. Louis show wasn't an entire disappointment. Those who stuck around after the cancellation were treated to a set of classic rock covers performed by Deer Tick front-man John McCauley. Turns out the singer is engaged to Those Darlins guitarist Nikki Darlin and had tagged along on the band's tour.

UPDATE: The Riverfront Times now reports tour manager Kristin Klein was charged with driving with a suspended licence and possession of a controlled substance, though there is still no word if King Khan & BBQ Show are facing any charges.
