Kindness Gets Robyn, Dev Hynes, Kelela for 'Otherness'

Kindness (a.k.a. Adam Bainbridge) made a splash in 2012 when he revealed his solo debut, World, You Need a Change of Mind, and now the UK R&B explorer will display a brand new set of sounds this fall with his sophomore set, Otherness. The record lands in North America on October 14 through Female Energy and a day earlier overseas.

A press statement outlines how the 10-song effort features Bainbridge teaming up in the studio with a number of artists, including Blood Orange main man Dev Hynes, Swedish pop star Robyn and more. R&B singer Kelela pops up on a pair of tracks, including album opener "World Restart," which also features Ade Omotayo. You'll find the bustling funk number, full of sizzling horns, hip-grinding rhythms and velvety vibrato vocals, in the SoundCloud player at the bottom of the page.

Otherness was mixed by Jimmy Douglass, Blue May and Bainbridge, with the album reportedly being influenced by D'Angelo, Herbie Hancock, Prince, Sade, Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth, Kate Bush and Ryuichi Sakamoto. Though we'll have to wait a couple of months before the album drops, you can check out the full tracklisting down below.

Kindness has a handful of upcoming dates in the U.S. and Europe that have him opening for Blood Orange and playing the festival circuit. While Bainbridge has yet to book any Canadian appearances, you'll find the rest of his global concert details here.
