Hot on the heels of recent singles "Original Classic," "Brazilian Love Song" and "Take It Off," Toronto's Keys N Krates have linked up with Haviah Mighty for another heater called "Pull Up" — a match made in 6 God's heaven.
"We were channeling everything from baile funk and Miami bass to Missy Elliot with this one," the band said of the single in a statement. "We were already in touch with Haviah at the time before making this; when we came up with the initial 'Pull Up' demo, we knew she would be perfect on it and we knew it would be perfect to show how special she is as an artist."
Meanwhile, Mighty incisively described the track as a "confident lion with a freshly tamed mane, walking into the function." The MC sounds perfectly in her pocket as she lets loose atop KNK's high-energy, uptempo, funk carioca-inspired beats. Queen (with the locks and the crown on top) shit.
Keys N Krates' new album Original Classic is due November 12 via Last Gang Records — sharing a release date with Mighty's Stock Exchange mixtape.
Listen to "Pull Up" below.
Mighty was among the artists involved in making Oshega's gamble pay off with its Get Together festival last weekend. Her latest Stock Exchange preview is "Tesla."
