Kataklysym Line Up Canada-Heavy North American Tour

BY Keith CarmanPublished Nov 18, 2010

When Montreal-based death metal outfit Kataklysm issued their 11th studio effort Heaven's Venom this past September, we were blown away. We rightfully referred to it as, "another top-notch album exhibiting their signature 'Northern hyperblast' style."

Looking to disseminate the toxicity, the quartet have announced that they will be embarking on a massive North American tour dubbed the "Spread the Venom 2010-2011 World Tour" as of December 3. Kick-starting in their native Quebec, the jaunt ventures into Europe before coming back to North America by February. Here, it circles the continent's perimeter, dips into South America and then shoots over to South Africa, wrapping up in May 2011.

Those of us in the New Land are treated to maximum extremity/torment/scream for our buck, though, as Kataklysym have opted to bring on quite a few friends for the ride. Fellow death metallers All Shall Perish, tech-metal behemoths Decrepit Birth, hardcore/thrash-inspired growlers Conducting From the Grave and Relapse Records's latest genre upstarts Abysmal Dawn will perform at virtually all North American dates.

"In just about a month we will embark on Kataklysm's longest one-way headlining stretch crossing four continents in nearly 20 years," stated vocalist Maurizio Iacono in a statement. "Heaven's Venom has been welcomed with open arms by fans and critics alike across the globe. As I mentioned before in interviews, Heaven's Venom is a very personal, aggressive and dark Kataklysm album that hits home. We love this album and want to share its anger with our fans! We want to play places we have never been before and also revisit our loyal supporters while creating some new fans along the way."

Referring to the band's impending hiatus post-tour, he added: "One thing we know, is that this will be the only time you will be able to see the band on this record or for a long time. So don't say, 'I'll catch them the next time,' because there might not be a next time. We are thinking of taking along break after this massive trek and who knows what will happen next. So if you are a fan of Kataklysm you have been called to duty!"
