Justin Sane is a founding member of and singer-songwriter for Anti-Flag, whose latest album is called Mobilize.
Current fixations:
The Beatles.
Mind-altering work of art:
Painting. So many different interpretations of living/ non and anything abstract.
Most memorable or inspirational gig and why?
Anti-flag, Gang Starr, Rage Against the Machine in Philadelphia. The amount of people, the amount of care for each other, no fights 14,000 people who took care of each other and danced the night away.
What has been your career high and low?
High: Every tour we do gets better, so I guess things are looking up.
Low: Justin being sick and touring with out him.
What should everyone shut up about?
Asking womyn to show their breasts from stage: sexist, homophobic, racist lyrics.
I would drop everything to play a benefit for?
People.
What trait do you like and dislike most about yourself?
I don't know.
What would make you kick someone out of your band and/or bed, and have you?
Sexist, racist, basically if you're an ignorant asshole, we won't be hanging out together.
When I think of Canada I think:
Amazing shows.
What is your vital daily ritual?
Teeth brushing.
How do you spoil yourself?
Sit down, listen to the Beatles and do nothing.
What was your most memorable day job?
Working as a handy man at an apartment complex.
If I wasn't playing music I would be:
An art teacher.
What is your greatest fear?
George W. Bush in office.
If you had a superpower, what would it be?
Damn, that's tough. Probably healing powers.
What makes you want to take it off and get it on?
Not too sure.
Music and sex: Is there a difference? Why?
It is all love.
Strangest brush with celebrity:
Seeing Ice T at a pizza shop in New York City.
Who would be your ideal dinner guest, living or dead, and what would you serve them?
Thanksgiving, with friends, family, Jello Biafra (Dead Kennedys), the Beatles, and tofurkey.
What does your mom wish you were doing instead?
Finishing school.
