"Something's gonna kill us / No, nothing's gonna save us." It's a bleak introductory line to the title track of Jesse Mac Cormack's After the Glow EP, but damned if the surrounding fog of acoustic guitars and ambient tones doesn't hook you in. Ahead of the record's official release, you can sample the aforementioned track, as well as the rest of the EP on Exclaim!
A press release reveals that the Montreal music-maker's third EP was cut in his mom's garage, with the songwriter explaining that it features "five very personal songs that I think a lot of people could relate to." This also includes the minimalist, desperate doom blues of "Addict," the synth-sparkled pop-and-lock of "Never Enough" and the rootsy, reflective "Death Row."
You can stream all of Mac Cormack's latest below, before the EP officially arrives September 16 via Secret City Records.
