Jennifer Aubry

Bubble

The switch from actor to songwriter is a dreaded crossover that most music fans cringe at. The possessive, sometimes arrogant idea that television and movie actors should "stick to what they do best" puts an easy damper on anything the artist chooses to do but the truth is, the best you can do is put the album in and have an honest listen. This second release from former Seasons of Love star Jenifer Aubry leaves you sitting on the fence about whether or not you want to keep onwards — the slightly cheesy, clichéd lyrics and easy listening chord arrangements brings to mind Sarah McLachlan, Jewel, Chantal Kreviazuk and other gems of the adult contemporary music scene, a scene that isn't necessarily known for its distinction between genius and mediocrity. That being said, the album, appropriately named Bubble, is clear in making no apologies for being exactly what it is — pretty, light and dreamy with love-letter lyrics generic enough for any lover.
