James Murphy & Pat Mahoney

Fabriclive 36

James Murphy and Pat Mahoney just want you to dance, to get your ass onto the dance floor and shake it to the beats pouring out of the speakers. And they’ve succeeded wildly with the formation of LCD Soundsystem and the release of two critically acclaimed albums. After forming dance punk label DFA and conceiving the now legendary monthly DFA parties at APT, the duo have branched off into the Fabriclive series with Fabriclive.36. The album is a throwback to the disco era, a theme that Murphy knows all too well through DJing obscure disco records at his live shows. Mahoney and Murphy have infused modern disco with a mixture of home-grown grooves and edgy, old school funk for a big sound with a smooth finish. Fabriclive.36 touts more than a handful of influential artists, such as Love of Life Orchestra, Lenny Williams and Donald Byrd and 125th St. NYC. There’s even a LCD Soundsystem track, "Hippie Priest Bum-Out,” thrown in for good measure. Fabriclive.36 is a friendly shout-out to disco lovers of the past and present.
