Jack White Points to April Release for New Dead Weather LP

BY Stephen CarlickPublished Feb 1, 2010

Oh, that busy man. On the heels of releasing a an EP called Live from Third Man West and telling us that the follow-up to the Dead Weather's debut, Horehound, was already half done, White has now released a few juicy details about what he's been up to lately.

First, the man has divulged that the new Dead Weather album is nearly complete. In an interview with Australian radio station Triple J, Jack stated that the band were "finishing recording the last couple of songs and then I'm going to start mixing in the next two weeks, so, yeah, it should be out in April." Jack also reported that the new album is "bluesier and heavier than we ever thought we could be."

The as-yet-unreleased first single is titled "Blue Blooded Blues," and features White on lead vocals.

In the same interview, White also promised a new location for the next in his series of "Third Man Records and Novelties" pop-up stores, which serve as temporary hole-in-the-wall record stores that sell exclusive goodies from his label. Following pop-ups in New York, London and L.A., White reports that the next one will appear at this year's SXSW Festival in Austin, TX. Knowing Jack's penchant for vinyl, that may be where a seven-inch for "Blue Blooded Blues" will, um, pop up.
