Jack Lukeman

Metropolis Blue

BY Roman SokalPublished Feb 1, 2001

Jack Lukeman is an Irish lounge crooner in the vein of a Jim Morrison and U2's Bono, set to a musical array of backdrops that sound like television show soundtracks. Each track acts like a time machine; they usually begin with an old-world lounge sound tinged with an ultramodern touch that suddenly shifts into AM radio mode, where horns and violins hoist his ballads high. Lukeman is suave and daring, but perhaps his intents are being presented in the wrong era, and it's his time machine that is probably off kilter and switched to wrong settings.
