Hyperdub Celebrates 10th Anniversary with Compilation Series
Published Mar 27, 2014This year marks the 10th anniversary of British electronic label Hyperdub, and it will celebrate the occasion with four compilations. The first is called Hyperdub 10.1, and it will be out on May 19.
This double-CD collection emphasizes the label's "dance floor dimension." The first disc includes new material from Kode9 & the Spaceape, Quarta 330, DJ Rashad, Kyle Hall, Kuedo, Mala and more. An announcement notes, "There will be a series of single and multi-artist EPs that splinter off from the first CD as well."
The second disc compiles 17 dance cuts from Hyperdub's back catalogue that spans UK funky, grime, dubstep, hip-hop and footwork.
Hyperdub will also stage a series of 10th anniversary live events in the coming months, but these are all in the UK and Europe. It doesn't look as if these celebrations will extend to North America. See the schedule here.
Since Kode9 — a.k.a. Steve Goodman — started Hyperdub a decade ago, the label has issued music from notable acts like Burial, Zomby, Darkstar, Laurel Halo and more. Presumably, some of these acts will appear on subsequent compilations, which are set to arrive throughout the year.
