Hurt Process

Drive by Monologue

In the CD sleeve of the Hurt Process’ latest record, the band does not shy away from acknowledging that they are influenced by the likes of Boy Sets Fire and Waterdown. This much is clear after listening to the first seconds of the CD. But although being heavily derivative of mainstream screamo, the Hurt Process manage to compose some sweet tunes. The catchy "Tuesday” is a great sing-along, while "Opinion” captures the same sing/scream that made From Autumn to Ashes so popular. Beware of the almost-too-cheesy "Clarity,” a song that seems to have stolen both Jimmy Eat World’s melodies and song title. But even the worst tracks off of Drive by Monologue are pretty decent and will not disappoint listeners looking for a solid, however unoriginal, new band.
