Horisont

Second Attack

That moniker isn't really going to reel anyone in, but Sweden's Horisont can be forgiven once their second album starts spinning. First off, dig that production: pure, vintage analog, drums sounding amazing and guitars sounding completely natural. This is no retro stoner rock though, this is the real deal: dudes who most likely have no idea that music that doesn't sound like KISS or Thin Lizzy exists. Fine by me. Songs like the irresistible "On the Run" or Lizzy homage "Spirit" make me wish that music that doesn't sound like KISS or Thin Lizzy never existed in the first place. There's a difference between bands that do the retro thing self-consciously and acts like Horisont, and it's all about the feeling. Horisont have feeling oozing out of every second of this great disc.
