Guelph, ON's Hillside Festival has already announced the lineup for its latest edition, but the bill is now looking even better thanks to the addition of special collaborative workshops featuring some notable festival performers.

This will include a team-up between Daniel Lanois and the Nels Cline Singers, plus a meeting between hip-hop practitioner Lee Reed and cutting-edge jazz fusionists BADBADNOTGOOD. There will also be a four-way collaboration between songwriters Mo Kenney, Tony Dekker (of Great Lake Swimmers), Jeremy Fisher and Susan Jarvie.

A press release describes these collaborations like this: "There are also some once-in-a-lifetime music workshops planned, where artists get together for impromptu, in-the-moment collaborations. Whether it's cover songs, total jams, or unique interpretations of each other's compositions, Hillside's music workshops are a rare and legendary thing."

As for the rest of Hillside, the lineup includes Constantines, Braids, the Weather Station, TEEN, Frazey Ford, Doldrums, By Divine Right, Etiquette, Last Ex, Fred Penner, Natalie Prass, Astral Swans and many more.

Tickets for Hillside are on sale here. They cost $139 (plus charges) for a full weekend pass, and single-day tickets are also available.
