Helloween

Metal Jukebox

I haven’t enjoyed anything Germany’s Helloween has released since the mid-’80s. Hearing how amazing they are at covering other material is making me lose even more confidence in these once mighty teutonic terrors. If they can do this why can't they make decent records themselves? Taking their stab at a variety of different material, from Cream and Jethro Tull, to David Bowie to Faith No More, the band do an excellent job making the songs sound their own. The biggest surprise? Abba’s “Lay All Your Love On Me” The most metallised rendition of any Abba song ever recorded.
