Sometimes new bands need an established name to garner attention. In the case of 'billy-infused boogie rockers Headcat, names will only hamper what's really going on. For the record, the trio are comprised of former Stray Cat Slim Jim Phantom, Rockats/Lonesome Spurs' Danny B. Harvey and Motörhead frontman Lemmy. That said, the obvious wealth of talent and history within shouldn't overshadow the fact that they are one solid act, as Walk The Walk... Talk The Talk instantly proves. Tight, cohesive and with a unified vision that pulls from their strengths while pushing their comfort zones, the album's 12 tracks find the triumvirate meandering through everything from traditional rock (Cream's version of Robert Johnson's "Crossroads") to oddball Beatles covers, original tunes and no-brainers (Johnny Kidd and the Pirates' "Shakin' All Over"). Together, they create a well-rounded piece of rock, uniting personal roots with keystone pieces of genre legacies, peppered with inimitable idiosyncrasies, flair and trademarks. Simple and forthright, while still full, surprising and repeatedly entertaining, when it comes to this underrated super-group, this debut release truly lives up to its name.
