Last week, Grouper (aka Liz Harris) delivered the first taste of her upcoming The Man Who Died in a Boat via a stream of the title track. She's now followed up that tune with another preview, this time for the soft and sublime "Vital."
Fittingly enough for a track that appears on a collection of unreleased tunes recorded around the same time as Grouper's Dragging a Dead Deer up a Hill LP, the song features similarly downcast yet dreamy, open-air acoustic tones and a couple layers of Harris' mumble-mouthed vocals. If you loved Dead Deer's "I'd Rather Be Sleeping," this song should thrill you too.
As previously reported, The Man Who Died in a Boat drops February 4 via Kranky Records.
