Gordon Lightfoot has long remained one of Canada's most esteemed songwriters, and his process is set to be explored in a new biography arriving in stores this fall.
As the Canadian Press reports, Penguin Books Canada has the biography, titled Lightfoot, slated to hit shelves on September 26. The book was authored by music journalist Nicholas Jennings and will arrive through the publisher's Viking Canada imprint.
The publishing house told the Canadian Press that Jennings "has had a long-standing relationship" with Lightfoot for nearly two decades, with the book featuring interviews with family, friends, fellow musicians, industry figures and Lightfoot himself.
Penguin also notes that Lightfoot "paints an unforgettable portrait of an artist in the making, set against the turbulent era of sex and drugs and rock 'n' roll," illustrating "how the boy from small-town Ontario became the legendary bard of Canada."
Lightfoot released his first bit of new music in over a decade last year with the arrival of single "Plans of My Own."
