Academy Award-winning Irish songwriter, Glen Hansard, flew into Toronto on May 9 and went straight from the airport to the Great Hall on Queen Street. Upon arriving at the over 100-year-old venue, he immediately launched into a stunning and intimate set.
In this black and white clip, Hansard plays an invigorating rendition of "High Hope" off his upcoming solo album Rhythm and Repose, which comes out June 19 on Plateau/Anti- Records. He Strums his weathered acoustic guitar mercilessly, and the performance escalates to a soaring climax as he stomps the floor and the small audience sings along with the chorus like an impromptu gospel choir. The effect is nothing short of life affirming.
