Rhythm and Repose, the first solo album from Glen Hansard, arrives today so it feels like an appropriate time to post a second video from Exclaim! TV's exclusive session with the accomplished musician and actor. This time Hansard delivers a touching and sorrowful version of "Come Away to the Water," which appears on The Hunger Games soundtrack performed by Maroon 5, and on the deluxe edition of Rhythm and Repose as a bonus track.
Tenderly picking a ukelele, Hansard exercises control over his big voice. His ability to restrain his impressive belt to a soft coo is a testament to his maturity as a songwriter, as he's able to wring as much power and soul from subtlety as he does with his more bombastic work.
Also watch Hansard perform "High Hope" last week on Exclaim! TV.
