Gear

EP

Playing garage pop with a flair for swiftly getting to the melodic point, the Gear offer a handful of consistently solid songs on this EP. While the up-tempo "I’ve Got Trouble” sounds like it could have been raided from the Cynics’ closet, the Australian band quickly shift gears to the mid-tempo waltzes of "Eight Arms to Hold You” and "Always Changin’.” On the disc’s closer, the band pick up the pace once more and show they’re capable of expertly executing both animated rock and melancholic pop, making for a fine EP.
