Best Worst Movie is the kind of weird, surprising spectacle you have you to see to understand. On the surface, a movie documenting the cult success of a shitty straight-to-video horror film doesn't sound like everyone's idea of a great time (unless you're a fan of that shitty straight-to-video horror film, the brilliantly terrible Troll 2). But Best Worst Movie succeeds in capturing something much, much bigger than a minor cult phenomenon. In the end, it's a movie about a bunch of people who had big dreams, and whose real lives never quite measured up. It's a little sad, but it's mostly just honest and hilarious.
We shot this interview while the film was screening at the ROM. George and Michael are two truly nice guys, and on a personal level, the fact that I interviewed the dad from Troll 2 blew my entire mind.
