Fallout

Turning Point

BY Liz WorthPublished Feb 19, 2007

Intended as a quick tour through a bit of Canadian punk history, Turning Point sees the Fallout putting their own spin on some long lost classics. Inspired by some now obscure and not so obscure early Canadian punk, this Toronto trio tackle these seven covers with the same verve they have become known for with their previous six releases. Full of signature hooks and trademark guttural snarls, the Fallout plough into songs like the Young Lions’ "National Security,” the Viletones’ "Backdoor to Hell,” and "Punk is Dead” by Nobody’s Heroes. Earning a reputation for a more politically charged approach, the Fallout make sure to pay homage to the ever outspoken Youth Youth Youth with "Apathy.” Although these are other people’s songs, the Fallout’s sound largely dominates throughout Turning Point, creating a hybrid of precedent and present.
